Anatomy of Breath

DSC00537.JPG

In the series of sculptures Anatomy of Breath, I use as a starting my poem “Blow First” to talk about the creation of the universe. Arranged side by side as a timeline, we can see the expansion of the air taking shape thanks to the blown glass technique, where, through heating, glass melts and passes into a solid state. This process of transforming matter occurs all the time, with star explosions, cell formation and particle clustering. As a study of movements, on a microscopic or spatial scale,  breath is treated here as a metaphor for the transformations that govern our existence.
